Arafat Abdel Hamed Abdel Latef earned his PhD in 2005 from South Valley University, Egypt, where he currently teaches plant physiology. He was awarded the ParOwn 1207 Post Doctor Fellowship in 2007 by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which was carried out at the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, China. Ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for 2020–2024, Prof. Latef is a prolific author and editor for renowned publishers such as John Wiley & Sons, Taylor & Francis, Academic Press (Elsevier), and Springer-Verlag, and serves on the editorial boards of prestigious journals such as BMC Plant Biology, Frontiers in Plant Science, Plants-Basel, and Phyton – International Journal of Experimental Botany. More recently, he has received several awards, including the 2021 Egyptian National Excellence Award, the 2019 South Valley University Excellence Award, the 2019 Top Peer Reviewer Award powered by Publons and Web of Science Group, and the South Valley University Science Publishing Award (2010–2023).
