Dr Sukanta Goswami, currently serving as Assistant General Manager (Geology) at Sakariya Mines & Minerals Pvt. Ltd., India, is a distinguished geoscientist with over 15 years of experience in uranium and mineral exploration. Prior to his current role, he served as Scientist at the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, where he significantly contributed to uranium exploration programs across multiple Proterozoic basins and greenstone terrains in India.He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (ISM) Dhanbad on the origin and lithofacies of felsic volcaniclastic rocks, along with an MTech from Homi Bhabha National Institute, India, and an MSc and BSc from Presidency College, Kolkata, India. He has extensive field and research expertise in sedimentology, petrology, structural geology, and economic geology.In his professional career, he has led several national and international exploration projects, notably in uranium (India), gold (Lake Victoria, Tanzania), and graphite (Mozambique belt, Tanzania). He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed papers and contributed significantly to uranium reserve establishment in India. He is a life member of the Geological Society of India, Indian Society of Applied Geochemists, and Indian Association of Sedimentologists.
