He was Hernsheim Fellow, New York Mount Sinai Hospital, and subsequently held Rockefeller Foundation and Commonwealth Fund fellowships at the Carlsberg Laboratory, Copenhagen; Stazione Zoologica, Naples; and Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm.
