This book covers topics on human and physical Geography in Canada. This book forms part of the Springer-Nature series of Country studies of Physical and Human Geography. The audience is junior university students, journalists, other professionals, and (educated) non-professionals.

Norm Catto was born in Ottawa, on the Champlain Sea plain directly south of the Grenville front of the Gatineau Hills, in 1956. After spending time appreciating the geography of Central, Eastern, Western, and Northern Canada, arrival in Newfoundland for the first time in 1989 provided a geomorphic and cultural contrast to everything that had gone before. The research and writing for this book reflects 35 years of university life as a professional geographer in Canada.  Over that time, Norm Catto has taught more than 40 different courses and more than 175 course sections at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and elsewhere.
