This contributed volume offers a detailed review of the history, classification, synthesis, and physicochemical properties of deep eutectic solvents, highlighting their role as sustainable alternatives to traditional solvents. The book examines their thermodynamic behaviors, micellization properties, toxicological profiles, and environmental benefits. Additionally, it covers their applications in organic and inorganic synthesis, extraction techniques, and materials engineering while emphasizing their alignment with green chemistry principles. By presenting cutting-edge research and practical insights, this volume provides a solid foundation for understanding the potential of DES in advancing sustainable industrial and scientific practices.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar is a distinguished faculty member at the School of Chemical Sciences, Central University of Gujarat, India. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Recognized among the world s top 2% scientists for 2021 2024, his research focuses on developing novel nanomaterials such as capped metal nanoparticles, core shell structures, and biopolymer-based adsorbents and sensors for detecting and removing heavy metal ions from water. He has also created hybrid nanomaterials using pectin, chitin, cellulose, and chitosan, and designed photocatalytic materials for environmental cleanup. His work includes mixed metal oxide-based hierarchical nanostructures for energy applications. He has authored over 143 journal articles, five books, and 125+ book chapters, with ~6500 citations, an h-index of 41, and i10-index of 120.

Dr. Ketan Kuperkar is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, Gujarat, India. His research interests include surfactant science, polymers, colloids, materials chemistry, and deep eutectic solvents (DESs). He has authored over 100 articles and four book chapters, with an h-index of 20. His work focuses on formulating stable DESs from selective hydrogen bond donors and acceptors in fixed ratios, and tuning their chemical and thermodynamic behavior by controlled water mixing. He also studies structural solvation and micellization dynamics of surfactants in DESs with varying water content.

Dr. Sapna Raghav completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Banasthali University, Rajasthan, in 2019. She is currently Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, Shri JJT University, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Her research interests lie in environmental chemistry, including water decontamination, sensing, and materials science. She has authored more than 25 research papers, 40 book chapters, and three books, with an h-index of 16 and i10-index of 19. She has participated in several national and international conferences. She served as a Women Scientist in IPR at TIFAC, DST, New Delhi, and has 4.5 years of teaching experience, having supervised 35 M.Sc. dissertation projects.

Dr. Anil Kumar Jangir is an Assistant Professor at a private university in Rajasthan. He obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Rajasthan and qualified CSIR-NET (AIR-43) and GATE. He earned his Ph.D. at SVNIT, Surat, under Dr. Ketan Kuperkar. His research focuses on deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and co-solvent-modified DESs using thermophysical and spectroscopic techniques for green chemistry applications. He has published several articles in international journals including New Journal of Chemistry, Journal of Molecular Liquids, and RSC Advances.

Dr. Mohammad Shahid is Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, India. He received his M.Sc. from Shibli National College, Azamgarh, and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has held research positions at Jamia Millia Islamia, Soochow University (China), University of Glasgow (UK), ICT Mumbai, Dr. K. N. Modi University, and Mewar University. His research has been supported by UGC, China Postdoctoral Fellowship, EU Marie Curie Fellowship, and Dr. D. S. Kothari Fellowship. He has published over 50 articles (~4300 citations, h-index 22) and edited/authored multiple books with international publishers.
