Gamburg Yuliy D., chemistry professor in A. N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, Russia, was born in the former Soviet Union in the days of WWII. He is a Holocaust survivor; together with his parents, he escaped from the Nazis in Central Asia. He graduated from the famous Mendeleev University, Russia, and completed his doctoral and postdoctoral studies at the Frumkin Institute. He taught Physical chemistry, Electrochemistry, and Materials Science at Mendeleev University, as well as chemistry and physics at school. He has published more than 200 works, including patents and 6 review articles in various branches of electrochemistry. Among his publications are "New Ideas and Results in Electrochemical Crystallization" in "Metal Electrodeposition" (2005), 10 books and textbooks, in particular, a book jointly with Prof G. Zangari "Theory and Practice of Metal Electrodeposition" (2011) which is one of the most cited in the field. His book "The Fundamentals of Electrochemistry" (Cambridge Scholars, 2023) was recognized by BookAuthority as one of the best electrochemistry books.
