It is well known that the equation E = mc² is a consequence from the Theory of Relativity.
Little known, however, is that there is also a simple demonstration of this relation by Einstein derived from the laws of classical physics.
This was the first step on an alternative path leading to relativity. Ignored for more than a century, this new approach is now investigated with the present work.
It is shown that the Principle of Equivalence of Mass and Energy in connection with Newton's Second Law of Dynamics allows a logical and intuitive transition from Newtonian to Relativistic Mechanics.
The book "Newton and Relativity" illustrates the surprising results of this research.

Francesco Cester is an Italian physicist and engineer, born in Rome in 1948. A graduate in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Rome, he began his career working as a software engineer at GRS, dealing with simulation programs for nuclear power plants. After retirement, he devoted himself to theoretical physics, publishing several books exploring the combination of classical and relativistic mechanics. He is known for his alternative approach to the theory of relativity, seeking to derive relativistic concepts in a logical and intuitive way. His research challenges conventional interpretations of relativistic mechanics, proposing a reformulation of the Theory of Relativity in a context that integrates Newtonian mechanics. He maintains the website newton-relativity.com, where he posts his research and reflections on his innovative approach to relativity.
