The study of climate change has highlighted the need to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, especially in industries such as cement and concrete, responsible for 7% of total human-generated emissions. The search for sustainable alternatives has led to the exploration of biomineralization and the use of non-pathogenic microorganisms as "bio-restoration agents" in concrete structures.
