This book introduces many new concepts and tactics for monitoring and assessing aspects that contribute to environmental degradation. This book will also cover wastewater treatment, groundwater, and the use of GIS tools in waste management. Bioremediation methodologies and construction and demolition wastes will receive special attention. This book covers an assortment of waste utilisation methods, such as brick production and use in wastewater treatment units. This book is meant to be of significant use to students and researchers, industrialists and academicians working in the field of environmental engineering and sciences. This can also help many colleges and institutes throughout the world who have built new prospectuses and provide specialised courses on environmental and sustainable development. Lastly, this book will be useful to all policymakers, whether in government or commercial enterprises, for the correct planning and implementation of waste management programmes.

Dr. Izharul Haq is an Assistant Professor at Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology in Jaipur, India, where he specializes in environmental biotechnology, with a focus on waste management using microbial processes and evaluating the toxicity of pollutants. He completed his PhD in Microbiology at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow, India, and later conducted postdoctoral research at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. Dr. Haq has authored 65 publications, holds an h-index
of 20, and has over 1,900 citations, reflecting his impactful contributions to the field of environmental microbiology and pollutant remediation.

Dr. Ankit Pratim Goswami is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Civil and Resource Engineering at Dalhousie University and earned his PhD from
IIT Guwahati. Focusing on environmental science and engineering, his research addresses water quality and sediment contamination, with notable contributions like developing the Irrigation Water Quality Index (IWQI) using information entropy to enhance evaluation accuracy. His detailed work on rivers, has advanced understanding of water quality variations and informed water management policies. With over 130 citations, his work significantly contributes to environmental science.

Dr. Ajay S. Kalamdhad, a Professor in Civil Engineering at IIT Guwahati, is renowned for his contributions to environmental engineering, particularly in sustainable solid waste management. His research spans mechanical composting, vermicomposting, anaerobic digestion, solid waste analysis, composting microbiology, biosorption, and water and wastewater treatment.

Dr. Kalamdhad s work has significantly advanced sustainable  waste management techniques, influencing academia, policy, and corporate practices. With over 250 publications in reputed journals and conferences, his research has made a profound impact on environmental engineering and conservation.
