Fundamentals of Translational Tissue Engineering explores the practical dimensions of tissue engineering (TE), outlining the intricate path of development of tissue engineered products. The book navigates the reader through the fundamental aspects and challenges in TE, equipping the reader with insights crucial to comprehending the journey a tissue engineered product traverses on its way to clinical translation. The first section, Material Sciences, provides the reader with a general overview covering the basics of scaffolds, biomaterials and techniques, while the larger, second section, Biological and Clinical Aspects, discussing the biological perspectives relating to tissue engineering.

This is a multi-disciplinary work that will be ideal for audiences of varying levels of expertise, from the novice exploring fundamental concepts or the seasoned professionals seeking comprehensive information, readers of all backgrounds will be able to access and benefit from this tailored approach.

Dr. Yogesh Kumar Verma, MNABS, is working as Scientist ‘E’ in INMAS, DRDO, Delhi, India. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from Delhi University, India. He also has another M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics from Punjab Technical University, India. In year 2009, he joined INMAS, DRDO, Delhi, India, as Scientist ‘C’. He is presently working in the area of stem cell research, microencapsulation, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and omics data mining and analysis for repairing/ regenerating various types of tissues for Defence application. He has been awarded with many fellowships, project grants, and has published many articles including manuscripts, patents, book chapters etc. Dr. Monalisa Mukherjee, FRSC, is a distinguished researcher specializing in nanomaterials engineering and smart hydrogels for drug delivery and tissue repair. Currently serving as Professor and Director at Amity University, she focuses on graphene-based materials and pH-sensitive hydrogels for biomedical applications. With a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, her expertise spans from carbon quantum dots to hydrogel nanocomposites. Dr. Mukherjee has published extensively in prestigious journals and holds multiple patents in nanomaterial synthesis. She's an esteemed Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, an editorial board member for Scientific Reports, and contributes as a peer reviewer for various top-tier scientific journals. Driven by innovation, she actively leads research projects funded by national agencies and engages in professional memberships and activities globally. Subodh Kumar MSc is an Indian-born Senior Research Fellow, currently working in Stem Cells and Gene Therapy Research Group, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, DRDO, in the defence funded project. Over the past two and half years he has worked in many research projects in the AIIMS and INMAS. He has earned his B.Sc. degree from Hansraj College, Delhi University and M.Sc. degree (Medical Biotechnology) from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India (PG research fellow). He has also qualified, GATE and CSIR JRF fellowship conducted by IITs and CSIR on behalf of Government of India respectively. He joined PhD under the supervision of senior scientist Dr. Yogesh Kumar (Sc. E), INMAS, DRDO. Subodh Kumar has published many research papers and book chapters. He is correctly putting his intellect for the research community through his writing and brain-storming scientific ideas. Sachin Kumar is an Indian-born Research Fellow in the Defence funded project, currently working in Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering Research Group, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), DRDO, India. Over the past year, he has worked on many research projects in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, India and at INMAS, India. He has earned his B.Sc. degree from S.D. P.G. College Panipat, Kurukshetra University, India and M.Sc. degree (Genetics) from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, India. He has qualified GATE and CSIR JRF fellowship conducted by IITs and CSIR, Government of India. He is correctly putting his intellectual for the research community through his writing and brain-storming scientific ideas.
