This monograph aims to examine different types of photothermal materials, such as metallic, organic, and composites, that have been reported to generate localized heat at the air-water interface, leading to vapor production on the surface. It focusses on various factors, including photothermal efficiency, evaporation rate, and others.
This monograph aims to examine different types of photothermal materials, such as metallic, organic, and composites, that have been reported to generate localized heat at the air–water interface, leading to vapor production on the surface. It focusses on various factors, including photothermal efficiency, evaporation rate, and others, which influence vapor generation. By drawing useful conclusions, this book contributes to the development of cutting-edge interfacial solar vaporization systems for practical applications.

Features:

Presents exclusive material on interfacial solar evaporators and photothermal materials.
Discusses effective photothermal material selection.
Helps calculate commercial material usage expenses in the field of photothermal-based evaporation systems.
Examines different types of photothermal materials, such as metallic, organic, and composites.
Explores photothermal efficiency and evaporation.

This book is intended for graduate students and researchers in energy, chemical engineering, and materials science.

Najma Memon is a Professor at the National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (NCEAC), University of Sindh, Jamshoro, with significant contributions to analytical and materials chemistry. Prof. Memon is currently serving as a visiting professor at USCI University, ML-Malaysia as well. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Sindh and completed postdoctoral research in the USA. Her expertise includes nanocomposites, waste-derived materials for water purification and energy storage, food analysis, and organic contaminant removal. With 124 research papers, a book, and 14 book chapters, she has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil students. She has received prestigious awards, participated in over 80 workshops, and held editorial roles in key journals. Her global collaborations and research in nanocomposites and environmental analysis address critical societal challenges. Saima Q. Memon is currently a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. She did her PhD from University of Sindh Jamshoro and post doctorate from University of Bristol UK. Her research interests include the material synthesis for treatment of contaminated water and development of analytical methods for detection of different compounds. She has published over 100 research papers and has completed two international and two national research projects. Shakeela Abbas did graduation in Chemistry from University of Sindh, Jamshoro. After its completion, she has done M.Phil. in Analytical Chemistry from National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh Jamshoro. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate degree with the title "Development of Efficient Photothermal Materials for Solar Interfacial Desalination" at the same institute under the supervision of Prof. Najma Memon. She is also working as Lecturer Chemistry in Government of Sindh, Pakistan.
