This book provides a comprehensive understanding of cellular senescence, which is a phenomenon, characterized by the irreversible arrest of cell growth and is accompanied by the secretion of various factors, collectively known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which can have detrimental effects on surrounding cells and tissues. The book examines the role of cellular senescence as a driver of age-related disorders such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular conditions, and metabolic disorders. By elucidating the molecular mechanisms involved, the book aims to deepen our understanding of these complex diseases and identify potential therapeutic targets. The book also explores cutting-edge therapeutic modalities that target cellular senescence, ranging from small molecule inhibitors to gene-based therapies and regenerative approaches. The distinctive features of the book include its comprehensive approach, integration of multidisciplinary expertise, in-depth exploration of therapeutic modalities, evidence-based insights supported by scientific research, and a translational focus. The interdisciplinary collaboration ensures a holistic understanding of the subject matter, fostering a synergistic approach to addressing age-related disorders. The book not only discusses the potential of emerging therapeutic modalities but also emphasizes practical implications, providing a bridge between research and real-world applications. This book is useful to researchers, scientists, and academics in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, gerontology, and cellular biology.

Dr. Imteyaz Qamar is a distinguished molecular cancer biologist and an Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, India. With a Doctoral degree in Molecular Endocrinology from Chonnam National University, Republic of Korea, Dr. Qamar has built a prolific academic and research career, particularly in the field of cancer biology. His research spans various aspects of molecular biology, with a focus on cancer mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and drug discovery. Dr. Qamar’s scholarly work includes numerous publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of his scientific achievements, Dr. Qamar has received numerous awards and grants from prestigious organizations, including the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He is also actively involved in international scientific communities as a member of the Royal Society of Biology (UK) and The Endocrine Society (USA). Dr. Qamar's extensive expertise and contributions to the field make him a prominent figure in molecular cancer research, and his editorial efforts further cement his role in advancing global scientific knowledge. Dr. Pawan Kumar Maurya is currently serving as Professor and Head of the department of biochemistry at the Central University of Haryana (Gov. of India), where he also holds the position of Deputy Director at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (DDUKK). Dr. Maurya's academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Biology (1998-2001) and an M.Sc. in Biochemistry (2001-2003), where he secured first rank, followed by a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Allahabad University (2003-2008), India. His post-doctoral training spans prestigious institutions, including Taipei Medical University (2011-2012), Taiwan, and the Federal University of Sao Paulo (2014-2016), Brazil. Before his tenure at the Central University of Haryana, Dr. Maurya served as a lecturer at SBS University, Dehradun, and as an Assistant Professor at Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida. Dr. Maurya's research is notably interdisciplinary, with a focus on accelerated ageing in neuropsychiatric disorders, nanomedicine, and clinical biochemistry. His contributions to the field include a few research articles published in reputed journals, as well as authorship of a book. He has received the prestigious Science without Borders fellowship from the Government of Brazil, and he is actively involved in various academic bodies at the Central University of Haryana.
