This wayfarer’s journey of discovery into time casts a new light on our lives, our universe, existence and reality. Visiting philosophy, physics, psychology, neuroscience and the arts it unveils the wonders that lie beneath our daily experience of time in a way that is easy to understand.
This is a journey into time…
We’re all fascinated by time, yet we don’t really understand it. What is it? How does it work? Does it even exist?
In this ground-breaking book, computer scientist, classical pianist and time-obsessive Rob Podolski (PhD) embarks on a voyage of discovery into this most enigmatic of natural phenomena. From the vastness of the universe to the bizarre miniature world of quantum mechanics and the mind-bending complexity of the human brain, he takes us on an extraordinary trip through time. On the way we meet philosophers and cosmologists, encounter aliens, Dutch Masters and mind-altering drugs, and visit a land where there’s no time at all.
Unlike narrowly focused academic studies, Time: A Wayfarer’s Guide draws on the huge range of ideas, theories and research about time in fields as diverse as philosophy, physics and neuropsychology. The result is a comprehensive, accessible and entertaining exploration of what time might be, and how we might experience it.

Rob Podolski received a BSc in earth sciences from Leeds University and later a PhD in applied mathematics from London University. Has worked as a computer scientist across big-science, high-technology, information-discovery and others. As a classical pianist Rob studied with a world-famous teacher performing Rachmaninov’s famous 3rd concerto in 1992.
