Understand the complexities involved in managing destinations, including the current challenges at the forefront of the tourism industry such as climate change, overtourism and crisis management.
This textbook provides undergraduate students with the theory and practical steps to manage global tourism destinations responsibly in the 21st century.

Responsible Destination Management considers:
-The complexities at the heart of the travel industry from ensuring tourism benefits a destination's economy but not at the expense of harming local communities
-The strategic roles of government and destination management organizations (DMOs)
-Destination product portfolio development and brand management
-How to utilize technology to build a more resilient and sustainable future for destinations

Each chapter includes an-depth look at a major tourism destination from Hawaii to Australia, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Iceland and the UK, as well as emerging destinations in outer space and the Arctic and Antarctic. The textbook is supported by in-text learning features such as chapter summaries, learning outcomes, key term definitions and reflective questions to help students apply destination management theory to practice.
