The itinerant laboratory TERRITORIAL INNOVATION addresses the topic of resilience in the context of extended Metropolitan areas, focused on inclusive habitat, digital innovation in economy and culture, and new mobility. The aim is to connect expertise and engagement of professors, researchers and students in urban design and planning and architecture from several international universities with different cities in Europe. Through the funding in the Erasmus+ BIP Blended Intensive Programme, an innovative mix of online sessions and digital tools can be combined with a summer school in place which offers direct experience of urban space and society and direct contact through discussion and field research. The first edition of the itinerant laboratory, showed in this book, focused on the city of Celle near Hannover. With the title TOWN CENTRE PATHWAYS, the laboratory addressed implications, conflicts, and interaction between several topics that influence strategies towards resilience and sustainability, such as heritage, energy, mobility, housing, commerce, culture, community—towards a vision of a town centre as liveable, activating, and attractive space.
