The aim of the work was to study the Neves dam, the geological and geotechnical characterization of the surrounding area and its importance. This study showed clear evidence of the dam's ageing over time. We also highlight the great role that this infrastructure plays in the municipality of Humpata, as it is the main source of water for irrigating the various agricultural farms, as well as for recharging the aquifers of the Chela plateau and not forgetting the supply of water to the population.

Yoso Anatolide Brito Luís holds a Master's degree in Geosciences, specializing in Environment and Spatial Planning, from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He has a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Tundavala, Angola.
