'The Backwoods of Canada' (1836), which provides an intimate glimpse of life in the Canadian bush, is one of her most notable works, alongside 'Pearls and Pebbles; or, Notes of an Old Naturalist' (1894), which illustrates her continued fascination with Canada's natural environment even late in life.
