Herb-drug interactions are drug interactions that happen between herbal drugs and conventional medications. These sorts of interactions might be more common than medication interactions because herbal medications frequently contain numerous pharmacologically active ingredients, while conventional medications normally contain just one. Piperine shows several pharmacological actions. It inhibits drug metabolizing enzymes and may improve drug bioavailability [19]. Piperine has additionally been found to inhibit human CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein, enzymes important for the metabolism and transport of xenobiotics and metabolites. In the animal studies, piperine also inhibited other enzymes, for example, CYP1A2, CYP2D6 and CYP2C9 which are essential in drug metabolism. By inhibiting drug metabolism, piperine may enhance the bioavailability of various compounds and adjust the effectiveness of some medications.
