DIGITAL UPDATE available for Fall 2020 classes

The Pearson eText and Mastering have been updated to provide new author-written content that actively engages students every step of the way in becoming expert problem solvers.

For courses in two-semester general chemistry.

An atoms-first approach that actively engages students in learning chemistry and becoming expert problem solvers

With Chemistry: Structure and Properties, author Nivaldo Tro incorporates his engaging and precise narrative to tell the story of chemistry with an atoms-first approach. This approach emphasizes that matter is particulate — composed of molecules — and the structure of those particles determines the properties of matter. The relationship of structure affecting properties is the thread that weaves all of chemistry together, and this theme is applied to all aspects of the text, from content and organization to art and pedagogy. The book presents chemistry as a logical, cohesive story from the microscopic to the macroscopic, so students can fully grasp the theories and framework behind the chemical facts.

Personalize learning with Mastering Chemistry

By combining trusted author content with digital tools and a flexible platform, Mastering personalizes the learning experience and improves results for each student. Mastering Chemistry provides an extension of learning, allowing students a platform to practice, learn, and apply knowledge outside of the classroom.

You are purchasing an access card only. Before purchasing, check with your instructor to confirm the correct ISBN. Several versions of the MyLab™ and Mastering™ platforms exist for each title, and registrations are not transferable. To register for and use MyLab or Mastering, you may also need a Course ID, which your instructor will provide.

If purchasing or renting from companies other than Pearson, the access codes for the Mastering platform may not be included, may be incorrect, or may be previously redeemed. Check with the seller before completing your purchase.

Nivaldo Tro received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University. He completed his postdoctoral research at the University of California at Berkeley. In 1990, Dr. Tro became a faculty member at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. During his time at Westmont, he has been awarded grants from the American Chemical Society, Research Corporation, and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Tro has received Westmont’s outstanding teacher of the year award three times. He is the successful author of several  bestselling texts including, Introductory Chemistry, 6e (Pearson), Chemistry: A Molecular Approach, 4e (Pearson), and Chemistry: Structure and Properties, 2e (Pearson).
