Molecular Chemistry of Vanadium and Palladium Model Catalysts on Oxide Surfaces

Organometallic surface complexes of vanadium and palladium were generated on silica. The vanadium complexes served as model catalysts during in situ studies. The present work was aimed to investigate reaction pathways in the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane where mechanistic aspects are still discussed controversially. Migratory behavior of palladium surface species was investigated by systematically analyzing their reactivity towards different atmospheric conditions. The correlation between the nature of palladium pre-catalysts and their activity in CC coupling reactions was evaluated.
