We provide a new approach to issues of order and disorder. We use natural numbers to build an explanatory model which is based on a?+?b?=?c. The model helps us to understand the combinatorics of theoretical genetics. A contemporary reformulation of major principles of explanations of Nature provides answers to some of the open questions in this area of research. The book invites readers to an active role in the process of understanding, but it is also well suited as a general introduction to innovative methods relating to the predictability of nature, specifically to basic methods of information processing in biology. The general logical principles presented in the book can be used to derive a wide variety of algorithms, practical and useful in many fields.

Während des Studiums der Psychologie in Wien war der Autor Werksstudent und arbeitete als Programmierer. Auch nach der Promotion und der Aufnahme der Tätigkeit als klinischer Psychologe blieb er mit der EDV-Branche eng verbunden - als Statistiker, Pfleger von Datenbanken, Systems Analyst und zuletzt als Senior Consultant for Design and Development. Nach 35 Jahren direkten beruflichen Kontakts mit Personen in Krisensituationen lernt man, die Welt von sehr unterschiedlichen Perspektiven aus zu sehen. Der Wahrheitsbegriff wird elastisch und man kann oft nicht genau unterscheiden, ob das offiziell Gesagte, oder jenes, was zwischen den Zeilen mitschwingend übergangen wird, eine griffigere Bedeutung besitzt. Die Axiomatik wird zu einer Sache der individuellen Entscheidung in der Konfrontation mit den realen oder als real erlebten Machtverhältnissen. Als gesund kann man die Fähigkeit erkennen, in konflikthaften Anspruchsumwelten lebbare Kompromisse zu finden.
