Its coverage of the field of micro irrigation includes
• An historical review
• A review of the current status and potential applications of micro irrigation
• Basic principles and applications
• Research results for vegetable/row/tree crops
• Research results on simulation of micro irrigation and wetting patterns
• A discussion on the development of software for micro irrigation design

• Methods and techniques that can be easily applied to other locations that are not covered here
This book offers basic practices and design methods of drip/trickle or micro irrigation design that are necessary to understand before designing, developing, and evaluating an agricultural drip irrigation management system. This book is a must for those interested in irrigation planning and management, namely, researchers, scientists, educators, and students.
Dr. Megh R. Goyal received a BSc in engineering in 1971, MSc in 1977, PhD in 1979, and master of divinity in 2001. He spent a one-year sabbatical leave in 2002–03 at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Florida International University, Miami, USA. Since 1971, he has worked as lecturer/research assistant at Haryana Agricultural University and the Ohio State University, and professor – cum research agricultural engineer at Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus. At present, he is a retired professor in agricultural and biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering at University of Puerto Rico. He is also senior acquisitions editor for Apple Academic Press, Inc., in the areas of agricultural science and biomedical engineering, as well as senior editor-in-chief of the book series Advances in Bioengineering Research and Applications, published by AAP. He has authored more than 200 articles in technical journals and textbooks, including Elements of Agroclimatology (Spanish) by UNISARC; Colombia, two Bibliographies on Drip Irrigation; the books Biofluid Dynamics of Human Body, Management of Drip/Trickle or Micro Irrigation, Evapotranspiration: Principles and Applications for Water Management, and Biomechanics of Artificial Organs and Prostheses; as well as the three volume series on Research Advances on Sustainable Micro Irrigation. Mohammad Nabil Bahgat El-Nesr, PhD, is currently assistant professor of water and irrigation systems engineering and Shaikh Mohammad Alamoudi Chair for Water Researches at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has held many positions, including researcher at Desert Research Center, programmer for the project Computer-Based Program for Crop Agriculture in Saudi Arabia, research assistant and lecturer at Desert Research Center, and agricultural engineer at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering Research. His research is focused on phenology modeling, water movement in soil, water conservation technologies, irrigation system design and management, soil conservation practices and wind erosion mitigation, computer programming to simulate and solve agricultural problems, and meteorological studies related to water conservation and management. He is an expert on design of subsurface trickle irrigation for the arid regions. He received his BS (1994), MS (1999), and PhD in agricultural engineering (2006) from Alexandria University, Egypt.
