Dr. William Hendee has appointments as Senior Associate Dean and Vice President as well as Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Professor and Vice-Chair of Radiology; Professor of Radiation Oncology, Biophysics, Bioethics of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Hendee served for 20 years on the faculty of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. For several years, he directed the Division of Radiological Sciences and for eight years served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiology. In 1985, Dr. Hendee was recruited by the American Medical Association to the position of Vice President in charge of science and technology programs. Dr. Hendee is past president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and currently president of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering./p> E. Russell Ritenour, Ph.D. is Professor and Chief of Physics, Department of Radiology, University of Minnesota Medical School and Director of Graduate Studies in Biophysical Sciences and Medical Physics in the Graduate School. He served five years as Chair of the Committee on Education and Training of Medical Physicists in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and is chair of the Committee on Continuing Education for the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs. He is author or co-author of over a dozen multi-media, web-based, and distance learning systems.

Index.
"...fulfills the authors goal of providing an up-to-date
survey of the physics of medical imaging in a format that will
appeal to students and educators alike. The coverage of
topics is sufficiently comprehensive, making it a suitable
introductory text for a number of imaging-oriented courses."
(Radiology, January 2004)
"The authors...are...experts...but also seasoned
teachers...this is evidenced by the clarity of thought and
completeness with which they treat each topic in this
comprehensive, easily readable textbook." (IEEE Engineering in
Medicine and Biology, May/ June 2003)
"...provides clear descriptions of difficult concepts while
keeping mathematics to a minimum. The examples and problems for
students are thought provoking and help solidify an understanding
of the material." (Doody's)
"...an excellent introduction to the physics of medical
imaging...Medical Imaging Physics is sure to be a favorite
of residents, perhaps supplanting Christensen's
Introduction to the Physics of Diagnostic Radiology as the
classic radiology residency physics text." (American Journal of
Roentgenology, Vol. 180, No. 4, April 2003)
"I would highly recommend this book as the primary reference for radiological physicists attempting to expand their understanding of medical imaging and those individuals preparing for certification in diagnostic radiology" "the book is a treasure of material [and] an indispensable source" --Edward L. Nickoloff, D.Sc., Department of Radiology, Columbia University and New York-Presbyterian Hospital
