The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the National Formulary (NF) are the official compendia of standards for drugs, excipients (inactive ingredients), dietary supplements, and other therapeutic products for the United States and several other countries. The USP contains legally recognized standards of identity, strength, quality, purity, packaging, storage, and labeling for active ingredients and other therapeutic products. The NF includes standards for excipients, botanicals and other "non-drug" ingredients used in drug preparations.

The USP 31-NF 26 becomes official on May 1, 2008. The annual USP-NF is available as a hardcover book, on a CD-ROM and through the Internet. The USP 31 - NF 26 will be valid til April 30, 2009.

Die United States Pharmacopeia (USP) und das National Formulary (NF) sind die amtlichen Kompendien der Anforderungen an Arzneistoffe, Hilfsstoffe, Nahrungsergänzungsmittel und weitere therapeutisch
eingesetzte Produkte für die USA und verschiedene andere Staaten.
Die USP enthält dabei die gesetzlichen Anforderungen an Identität, Gehalt, Qualität, Reinheit, Verpackung, Lagerung und Bezeichnung für Arzneistoffe und andere therapeutisch verwendete Produkte. Das NF enthält Standards für Hilfsstoffe, pflanzliche Drogen und weitere Bestandteile von Arzneimitteln.

Das USP31-NF26 tritt am 1. Mai 2008 in Kraft. Die jährliche Ausgabe des USP-NF ist in gebundener Form, als Einzelplatz-CD-ROM und über das Internet erhältlich.
