This text offers a critical examination of the United States' approach to drug policy and its effects on individuals and society. It proposes a reconsideration of societal perceptions and policies, suggesting a shift towards a humanistic, pragmatic, and evidence-informed approach. The book critically analyzes the dominant narratives and the stigmatization associated with drug use, while advocating for decriminalization and a public health approach that includes harm reduction strategies and equitable access to treatment.

She is also an assistant adjunct professor at New York University, where she received her master's degree in social work and her Ph.D. Dr. Sarabia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with lived experience.
