A beautiful, tactile book of inspiring quotes and images by Frida Kahlo; illuminating a life spent in creative transformation - turning physical suffering into beauty, endurance into empowerment, immobility into imagination
'Everything can have beauty, even the worst horror.'
Frida Kahlo’s fierce dedication to her art left a legacy of paintings and writings that reveal both her creative brilliance and her remarkable endurance. Her diaries, letters and reflections show a woman who - despite profound physical pain - sought meaning through colour, symbolism and uncompromising self-expression.
The inspiring quotes and images by Kahlo collected in Wings to Fly illuminate her artistic evolution and her lifelong struggle to transform suffering into beauty, connection and a deeper sense of personal empowerment.
'I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy to be alive as long as I can paint.'

Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Born in Coyoacán, she survived a severe bus accident at 18 that left her with lifelong pain and long periods of immobilisation. During her recovery she began painting intensively, developing a striking visual language that blended personal suffering, Mexican folk traditions and surreal, dreamlike imagery. Kahlo’s work explored identity, the female body, politics and resilience, often using herself as subject and symbol. Today, Kahlo stands as an icon of artistic courage, Mexican cultural pride and the transformative power of creativity.
