Reena Kapoor is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Law & Psychiatry Division at the Yale University School of Medicine. Her clinical work and scholarship focus on the intersection of mental illness, violence, and the criminal justice system. She has expertise in the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of violent and justice-involved individuals in a variety of settings, including prisons, jails, forensic hospitals, and the community. In addition, Dr. Kapoor serves as a Program Director for the Yale forensic psychiatry fellowship, teaching and supervising fellows in one of the country's largest training programs for forensic psychiatrists. Tony Tamburello is the Associate Director of Psychiatry for Rutgers University Correctional Health Care, and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Tamburello attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine, received specialty training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland, is board-certified in general and forensic psychiatry, and is a certified correctional healthcare professional (CCHP). He was the lead author for the 2018 and 2022 American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law Practice Resources for Prescribing in Corrections. He is actively engaged in clinical, administrative teaching, and research activities in the correctional space. James L. Knoll, IV, is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Forensic Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He is also Clinical Director of the Central New York Psychiatric Center, NY State's maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital. He is past president of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL). Dr. Knoll's primary areas of interest include psychological autopsies, correctional psychiatry, threat assessments, and mass violence. He has authored over 200 publications in journals and book chapters. Dr. Knoll is Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of the Psychiatric Times and contributing editor for the Correctional Mental Health Report. He is teaching faculty for the annual AAPL Forensic Psychiatry Review Course. Jeffrey L. Metzner has written extensively on the psychiatric care of prison populations. He has provided consultation to judges, special masters, monitors, state departments of corrections, city and county jails, U.S. Department of Justice, the National Prison Project, Homeland Security and others involved in the field of correctional psychiatry in 35 states. He was part of the American Psychiatric Association work groups that produced the first and third editions of the guidelines for psychiatric services in correctional facilities.
