This book offers an authoritative exploration of the evolving field of surgical nursing through the lens of the Caring Life-Course Theory (Kitson et al., 2021). This comprehensive text navigates the modern landscape of surgical nursing, integrating three pivotal facets: contemporary clinical practices, latest developments, and post-licensure education.
The book is structured around the constructs of the Caring Life-Course Theory, each chapter focusing on a unique construct such as 'Capability', 'Self-Care', 'Care Transition', 'Care Network', 'Care Need', 'Care Trajectory', and 'Care Provision'. This strategic approach allows for an in-depth understanding of advanced nursing practice and education in the context of patient care across the lifespan.
The text stands out for its originality, providing an exhaustive overview of surgical nursing that consolidates the latest research, technological advancements, and evolving healthcare protocols. It features contributions from experienced clinicians and scholars, diving deep into the transformative roles and decision-making processes that shape surgical nursing. Real-world case studies and simulation training insights are integrated to enhance practical understanding and competency.
Readers will find immense value in the updated knowledge, leadership dynamics, skill enhancement tools, and multidimensional perspective of patient care offered. The inclusion of social science perspectives promotes an integrated approach to healthcare delivery, while case studies aid in the application of theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
Targeting a board spectrum of healthcare professionals, including nurse clinicians, academic researchers, clinical leaders, nurse educators, and practicing nurses, this book aims to augment the global surgical nursing paradigm and enrich patient care outcomes. It serves as a critical resource that redefines the intersection of surgical nursing, leadership, technology, and patient care.
