Leszek Szablewski is a professor of medical sciences. He received his MS in the Faculty of Biology from the University of Warsaw, Poland and his PhD degree from the Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences. He habilitated in the Medical University of Warsaw, and he obtained the degree of Professor from the President of Poland. Professor Szablewski was the Head and Chair of the Department of General Biology and Parasitology, Center for Biostructure Researchers, Medical University of Warsaw. Professor Szablewski has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as J. Alzheimer's Dis., Biochim. Biophys. Acta Reviews of Cancer, Biol. Chem., J. Biomed. Sci., Diabetes/Metabol. Res. Rev, Endocrine, Curr. Oncol., and Int. J. Mol. Sci. He is the author of 3 books and 8 book chapters, editor of 4 books, has written 10 scripts for students, is the ad hoc reviewer of over 30 peer-reviewed journals, and was an editorial member of a peer-reviewed journal. Prof Szablewski's research focuses on cell and intracellular signaling pathways, physiology, genetics, and pathophysiology. He works on damages of glucose homeostasis and changes in the expression and/or function of glucose transporters due to various diseases.
