This book explores the evolving frontiers of periodontology, integrating cutting-edge insights into the periodontal microbiome, systemic health interactions, regenerative therapies, and precision diagnostics. It bridges clinical dentistry with biomedical innovation, highlighting the role of periodontitis in systemic disease and advancing interdisciplinary strategies for prevention and care. Emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence, host modulation, and molecular diagnostics, the book presents a forward-looking view of personalized periodontics. Contributions from a diverse team of researchers and clinicians provide a comprehensive resource for understanding how innovations in microbiology, immunology, and bioactive therapies are transforming periodontal practice and research. A must-read for clinicians, researchers, and students seeking to stay ahead in evidence-based, personalized care.
Dr. Nada Tawfig Hashim Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Periodontology at RAK College of Dental Sciences, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, United Arab Emirates. She holds a Doctorate in Periodontics and has extensive academic, clinical, and research experience in the field of Periodontics.
Dr. Nada's research is strongly rooted in the molecular and clinical aspects of periodontal disease, with a special interest in the oral-systemic health axis, genetic susceptibility, and the application of novel diagnostics and therapeutics.
A prolific author, Dr. Nada has published widely in peer-reviewed journals including Frontiers in Oral Health, Molecules, and International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Her publication on laser therapy for dentin hypersensitivity has been cited over 80 times and remains one of the most referenced studies in the field. She has contributed several chapters to upcoming academic books on modern periodontal disease classification, pharmacogenomics in periodontal therapy, and host modulation strategies beyond NSAIDs.
Her academic contributions have earned her a strong standing in the international research community, including a place in the Scientos World Ranking of Scientists. She has also been shortlisted for the Best Research Proposal Award at the 5th Forum for Women in Research (QUWA 2025), held in conjunction with International Women's Day.
Dr. Nada is an active reviewer for several Q1 journals and regularly contributes to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study, focusing on cardiovascular and oral health interconnections. Her ongoing work aims to inform public health policy and promote the integration of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence in periodontal diagnostics and education.
Her teaching portfolio covers both pre-clinical and clinical training in periodontology, with a focus on sustainable practices, patient safety, and evidence-based care. Through mentoring, research supervision, and international collaborations, Dr. Nada continues to shape the future of periodontal science and its community impact.
