The book explores myofunctional therapy and its role in addressing oropharyngeal functional disorders in individuals afflicted with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). It covers the critical lack of scientific understanding regarding suitable patients and optimal exercises to be used in the disease. The volume provides the necessary knowledge to identify and address these disorders from childhood, in order to prevent further development of the disease. It encompasses functional, anatomical, and physiological dimensions and promotes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, fostering collaboration among specialists in otolaryngology, pulmonology, speech therapy, sleep surgery, and dentistry. It also combines this therapy with other well-established treatments such as CPAP, mandibular advancement devices, and surgery.

Dr. O Connor Reina obtained his medical degree from the Seville University, Spain. He completed his Residency Program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Hospital University Virgin Del Rocio in Seville, Spain. He served as an Associate Professor at Medicine University Seville from 2001 to 2011. Currently, he serves as the Co-Head of the Otolaryngology Department at Hospitales Quironsalud Marbella and Quiron salud Campo de Gibraltar, Spain.
