A comprehensive guide to the maintenance of health as we age is presented in a wide range of interesting discussions and suggestions. It is extremely readable and as such is easily understandable by both non-physicians as well as doctors. There is an excellent biography at the end of the volume for those who wish to explore further details. It is enjoyable to read as it is written in an appealing and informal manner with many attractive excursions into entertaining yet relevant stories. Interspersed are pertinent and useful philosophical notes reminding us of important aspects of living. The contents increase one's overall holistic perspective of what it means to be elderly in a most helpful and reassuring manner. This book has value, not only to the elderly but also, to all of us who are not yet elderly, as it regards this phase of life in an encouraging and positive manner.

Jae Ho Kim, MD, PhD, FACR is Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Dr Kim obtained his medical degree from Kyungpook University in South Korea, where he graduated summa cum laude and then earned a PhD from the University of Iowa, USA, in radiobiology and biophysics. Prior to Henry Ford, Dr Kim was a tenured professor of radiology and a board-certified radiation oncologist at New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for more than 25 years. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers pioneering novel cancer therapies and his years of experience and research on radiation injuries have given him crucial insights on unraveling the pathogenesis of cellular aging.
