Natural Compounds and Polymer Blends in Wound Healing Applications explores the integration of diverse multifunctional natural compounds into polymer-based materials. Early chapters introduce natural polymers and their blends, and present the unique physicochemical characteristics and biological activities of these materials. A range of naturally-derived compounds is assessed, including peptides, phenolic compounds, carotenoids, flavonoids, plant extracts, and carbon additives. The sustainable benefits of these natural compounds and polymeric materials is emphasized, with a detailed review of recent patents, commercial products, and the challenges and opportunities in the field. Natural Compounds and Polymer Blends in Wound Healing Applications is a valuable resource for academics and researchers in the fields of materials science, biomaterials, pharmaceutical sciences, and medicinal chemistry.

Dr Beata Kaczmarek-Szczepańska is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomaterials and Cosmetic Chemistry, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Torun, Poland. She has published more than 85 scientific papers in internationally-recognised journals She coordinated project financed by National Science Center titled “Design, synthesis and characterization of materials properties based on natural polymers with the addition of glycosaminoglycans isolated from wastes of food industry” (till 2019), project financed by the National Centre for Research and Development, titled „Glycosaminoglycans and collagen lyophilisate from fish skin for biomedical application” (till 2023), project “Biopolymers with antimicrobial properties” and “The preparation of natural preservation system based on tannic acid and gallic acid” with the financial support by NCU. She completed several internships (in Ireland, Serbia, India, Jagiellonian University in Krakow). She was awarded by Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in "Welconomy in Toruń 2021" forum meeting for their achievements and got a scholarship of Minister of Science and Higher Education.
