Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows a clinician to examine the airways by placing a thin tube-like instrument through the nose or mouth and down into the lungs. The tube sends pictures back to a video screen or camera. The procedure can be either diagnostic or therapeutic to treat various pulmonary conditions, especially bronchogenic carcinoma.

Comprising two parts, this book begins with a practical introduction to the art of bronchoscopy, followed by a concise clinical history, chest X-rays, computed tomography (CT), and bronchoscopic pictures of interesting cases selected from 5,000 bronchoscopic procedures. Each case is described in detail, highlighting normal and abnormal findings, as well as possible complications and contraindications.

The atlas also includes sections on paediatric bronchoscopy and likely future advances in the field.
