Atlas of Endoscopy Imaging in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Second Edition, serves as a comprehensive guide to the latest advancements in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This new edition keeps readers updated with cutting-edge medical treatments, state-of-the-art endoscopy, and imaging technologies, as well as the evolution of interventional IBD. It explores the latest advancements in IBD diagnosis and management, including recent endoscopy instruments for measuring disease activity and the transformative world of image-enhanced endoscopy. Additionally, it delves into the groundbreaking application of artificial intelligence (AI) in IBD, revolutionizing diagnosis, disease monitoring, and dysplasia surveillance. New content introduces topics such as intestinal ultrasound, device-associated enteroscopy in Crohn’s disease, insights into IBD-like conditions (autoinflammatory disorders), and the value of intraoperative endoscopy in IBD procedures. The book integrates new consensus guidelines for endoscopy imaging in IBD, explores AI applications in diagnosis and monitoring, addresses COVID, COVID vaccines, and IBD, and presents new interventional IBD techniques. This edition provides state-of-the-art information on differential diagnosis, advanced endoscopy, imaging technologies, and AI. It offers updated guidelines for disease activity assessment and advancements in endoscopic therapy modalities. Designed for a diverse range of medical professionals, it is an indispensable resource for comprehensive, current IBD knowledge. Gastroenterologists and IBD specialists will find resources for cutting-edge treatments and AI insights. Primary care clinicians can use an expanded list of differential diagnoses for early-stage identification. Surgeons can deepen their understanding of interventional techniques, while pathologists and radiologists can improve diagnostic skills through AI and image-enhanced endoscopy. This resource ensures medical professionals across disciplines are equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of IBD diagnosis, treatment, and management.

Dr. Shen is the head and medical director of the IBD Center at Columbia. He is also the Vice Chair for Innovation in Medicine and Surgery and a Professor of Medicine (in Surgery). He is one of the world’s pre-eminent leaders in interventional inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) due to his specialized expertise in treating a wide range of pouch-related disorders. In addition to pouchitis and pouch diseases, Dr. Shen specializes in IBD, GI endoscopy (including endoscopic pouch procedures), and imaging technology. Dr. Shen is known as a pioneer in interventional treatment for IBD - this includes postponing or eliminating the need for surgery in some cases.
