This book is based on prior research conducted by the author's team, integrating the latest advancements in biomechanics and mechanobiology related to atherosclerosis from both domestic and international peers. It explores the mechanobiological mechanisms and prevention strategies for atherosclerosis and intravascular stent restenosis. The topics covered include: lipoprotein concentration polarization, stress response of vascular endothelial cells, biomechanical mechanisms in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular development, atherosclerotic plaque formation, in-stent restenosis, and post-stent implantation atherosclerosis. Additionally, the book presents the mechanobiological mechanisms of drug regulation for cell viability and inhibition of vascular restenosis, as well as the latest frontiers and advancements in these areas. It carries significant reference value for postgraduates and young researchers in cardiovascular physiology and pathology, particularly those involved in biomedical engineering, basic medicine, and clinical medicine focused on atherosclerotic disease research.

Dr. Guixue Wang is Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Former Director of the College of Bioengineering, Chongqing University, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Chongqing University Health Science Center. He serves as Director of Key Laboratory of Biorheological and Technology of Ministry of Education of China, Director of Public Experiment Center (Chongqing) of the Chinese National Bioindustry Base, Director of State and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Vascular Implants of China, and Academic Leader of the national first-level key disciplines of biomedical engineering. He enjoys special government subsidies from the State Council of China. He assumes the Member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Biomedical Engineering in Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Education, China, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Teaching Guidance Committee of Biological Sciences, Executive Director of the Chinese branch of the International Atherosclerosis Society, and Chairman of the Atherosclerosis Committee of the Chinese Society of Pathology and Physiology, Chairman of Material Biomechanics Branch under Chinese Society for Biomaterials. He has been selected for four times as the Elsevier highly Cited Chinese Researchers, the world’s top 100000 scientists, and the RANKING Internationally Famous Scholar, in the field of biomedical engineering; and the World’s Top 100000 Scientists.
