New fabrication techniques and biomaterials have advanced significantly as attention toward healthcare innovations in recent decades has increased. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the application of additive manufacturing for biomedical devices. The book focuses on the use of biomaterial for hard and soft tissue engineering. These materials can imitate the mechanical, structural, and biological characteristics of the parent tissue, repairing or replacing its functioning. It provides details on the use of various biomaterials for different biomedical applications. It highlights the present trends and potential of various techniques and materials for various applications. The chapters in this book written by eminent experts highlight recent developments in additive manufacturing for biological mimicking and surgical planning. It discusses latest advances in various 3D printing technologies in the fabrication of biomedical devices for orthopaedic and cardiovascular applications, along with rising trends in designing and creating tissue replacement substitute simulants. This book can serve as a fundamental textbook for research in additive manufacturing, fabrication of implants or scaffolds and medical device development, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and biomedical engineering. This book can be a valuable resource for mechanical and biomedical engineers, academicians, healthcare researchers, and professionals interested in tissue engineering.

Dr. Anurag Dixit is Assistant Professor and Head of Mechanical and Automation Engineering Department at G B Pant DSEU Okhla-I Campus (erstwhile G B Pant Engineering College), New Delhi, India, and has more than fourteen years of teaching and research experience. His research interests include finite element analysis of textile composites and a large deformation of metals and composites at low, medium, and high rates of loading. His research is focused on finding applications in design for safety in defence applications, aerospace, mobility, marine industries, and design of metal forming processes. He has published more than 20 Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal research articles in various international journals of repute and has successfully completed a research project in the capacity of Co-Principal Investigator, funded by DRDO, Govt. of India. He has conducted a few short-term courses and faculty development programs in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research. Dr. Dixit is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), India and the Robotic Society (TSR) of India. Dr. Anil Kumar is Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Automation Engineering Department at G B Pant DSEU Okhla-I Campus (erstwhile G B Pant Engineering College), New Delhi, India. Apart from M. Tech. in manufacturing technology and automation, he has an MBA in production and operation management with a top position from MDU, Rohtak, India. He has completed his Ph.D. from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. He has published about 15 research papers in SCI/ESCI/Scopus Indexed journals. His areas of specialization are production and industrial engineering, optimization techniques and composites. He has about 17 years of industrial and teaching experience. He is also a lifetime member of the Robotics Society of India. Dr. Dayanidhi Krishana Pathak is Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Automation Engineering Department at G B Pant DSEU Okhla-I Campus (erstwhile G B Pant Engineering College), New Delhi, India, and has more than 16 years of teaching experience. His research interests are focused on biomaterials, biodegradable metals and additive and subtractive traditional and non-traditional manufacturing processes. His research mainly focuses on the fabrication of biodegradable metallic implants and scaffolds and their materials through powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing routes. He has published about 10 research papers in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) or peer-reviewed journals. He has been awarded the gold medals for securing first rank in M.Tech. Dr. Pathak is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), India and the Robotic Society (TSR) of India. He has also been part of conducting various faculty development programs.
