Les Facultés de droit, des lettres et de médecine de l'Université de Genève et le Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) se sont associés pour organiser un colloque consacré à Katyn et la Suisse : experts et expertises médicales dans les crises humanitaires, 1920-2007, du 18 au 20 avril 2007, à Genève. En partant du cas du professeur François Naville et des conséquences de sa participation à la Commission d'enquête internationale de 1943 sur Katyn, il s'est interrogé sur la question du devoir des humanitaires de dénoncer les crimes de guerre. A partir du cas exemplaire de Katyn, le colloque et les actes que nous publions analysent le poids des considérations diplomatiques, militaires, politiques, mais aussi éthiques, qui entourent l'expertise médicale.
Katyn and Switzerland
The University of Geneva's faculties of law, literature and medicine joined forces with the International Committee of the Red Cross to organize a colloquium in Geneva from 18 to 20 April 2007 entitled Katyn and Switzerland : Forensic Investigators and Investigations in Humanitarian Crises, 1920-2007. Taking as its starting point the case of Professor François Naville and the consequences of his participation in the 1943 International Commission of Inquiry on the Katyn massacre, the colloquium examined the issue of whether humanitarian organizations have a duty to denounce war crimes. The colloquium's deliberations and the proceedings we are publishing use the example of Katyn to analyse the diplomatic, military, political and ethical considerations that weigh on medical experts.
