The role of thoughts and beliefs are emphasized to help the client see their influence and develop alternative outlooks to facilitate implementation of anger management strategies and build a sense of efficacy.

J. Russell Ramsay, PhD, is cofounder and codirector of the University of Pennsylvania's Adult ADHD Treatment and Research Program and an associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry in the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.
