Designed to help users more effectively interpret CT and MR images, this atlas offers images of actual anatomy for transverse, coronal, sagittal and selected oblique planes of the same specimen. This video covers the head and neck.
Collectively, the video disc atlas is a reference source for the anatomy of the human body seen in the major planes used in clinical imaging. Designed to help users more effectively interpret CT and MR images, this atlas offers images of actual anatomy for transverse, Coronal, sagittal and selected oblique planes of the same specimen. The information it contains should better facilitate consultations with colleagues and explanations of human structure to patients. The entire human body is represented in over 60,000 illustrations containing over 16,000 anatomical images within 0.5mm of what will be wanted to be seen. The illustrations comprising this atlas are obtained from precisely alligned and digitized images of actual tissue slices selected from young adult to middle age cadavers who display no visible pathology or abnormality, providing an accurate, comprehensive and useful atlas of volume anatomy. Each image is shown as an individual frame on the video disc. These frames can then be played in sequence to quickly scan the entire specimen. When an individual image is found to match a clinical view of interest, the image may be held for further inspection.
Additional information about it, such as the names of its major anatomical structures or its precise position in relation to other planes through the region can then be displayed.
