Barnes, RDH, MS has been practicing, teaching, and conducting research in dental hygiene for more than 25 years and has been recognized for professional excellence with honors that include the Alabama Dental Hygienists Association's "Outstanding Dental Hygienist" award, and she has served as the President of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society. Published in numerous journals and abstracts, she also actively holds positions on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Clinical Dentistry, Journal of Practical Hygiene. Ms. Barnes is a Professor and Coordinator of Clinical Research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Dentistry. Michelle L. Sensat, RDH, MS has been practicing, teaching, and participating in clinical research for over 6 years. She has been recognized for professional excellence with honors that include University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry's "Outstanding Teacher Award." Currently practicing dental hygiene as a member of University Dental Associates, she is also assistant professor and pre-clinical coordinator in the Department of Dental Hygiene. She holds many committee assignments, and is an active member within her community, devoting much time to service that includes dental screenings and dental education. She has been published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene, has given presentations at national meetings, and has contributed chapters to leading texts in the field.
