The current construct of intellectual disability is based on the assumption that both IQ and adaptive behaviour can be measured accurately. Simon Whitaker is Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Huddersfield, UK, and Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Learning Disabilities in Huddersfield.
