Arthroscopic repair of a torn rotator cuff has been made possible by the use of suture anchors. This title shows a double row technique using biodegradable doubleloaded corkscrew anchors on the medial side, and knotless anchors on the lateral side to create a suture bridge.
Area of Focus: Shoulder & Upper Extremity and Arthroscopy. Arthroscopic repair of a torn rotator cuff has been made possible by the use of suture anchors. In this program, Dr. Andrews performs a double row technique using biodegradable doubleloaded corkscrew anchors on the medial side, and knotless anchors on the lateral side to create a suture bridge. The development of a knotless suture anchor that allows for reduction and tensioning of the rotator cuff repair greatly simplifies the arthroscopic procedure, making anchor insertion easier and decreasing the overall number of knots required. Observe a diagnostic shoulder arthroscopy, tear preparation, modest acromioplasty, anchor placement, suture management, and the technique of suture tensioning for a double-row repair. Companion JBJS-A article of this title is published in May 2008.
