Dr. Haiming Zhang is an Associate Professor in the School of Earth and Space Sciences at Peking University. He earned a Ph.D. in Geophysics at Peking University in 2004. His research focuses on theoretical seismology and earthquake source dynamics. His main accomplishments include improving the generalized reflection/transmission coefficient method for computing theoretical seismograms, integrating the half-space Green's function, which is the key topic covered in this two-volume set, into the boundary integral equation for simulating the dynamic spontaneous propagation of earthquake sources, and developing corresponding numerical algorithms. Dr. Xi Feng earned his Ph.D. in Geophysics from Peking University in 2021, and is now a mathematics teacher and competitioncoach at Beijing National Day School. During his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Haiming Zhang, he conducted systematic research on classical Lamb’s problems in theoretical seismology, and resulted in the derivation of generalized closed-form solutions for the second and third kinds of Lamb’s problems.
Introduction.- 2D Lamb’s Problem (I): Surface Source.- 2D Lamb’s Problem (II): Internal Source.- Integral Solutions to 3D Lamb’s Problem (I): Theoretical Formulation.- Integral Solutions to 3D Lamb’s Problem (II): Numerical Examples.
