Trigonometry: From Theory to Application offers a clear and practical introduction to the foundational principles of trigonometry, guiding readers through the subject with an emphasis on real-world relevance. The book thoughtfully explores the characterization of triangles, coordinate transport, and coordinate systems, providing straightforward explanations and practical insights. Beginning with an accessible review of basic trigonometric functions and their properties, the text gradually expands to cover identities, equations, and a broad range of applications. Each chapter builds on the last, ensuring that learners develop a strong, cumulative grasp of the material through detailed examples and engaging exercises.

In addition to its comprehensive approach, the book features special sections devoted to real-life and technological problems, illustrating how trigonometry is not just a theoretical subject but a vital tool in solving everyday challenges. Full-color illustrations and a variety of exercises help students connect concepts to applications in fields like engineering and physics, making the subject both inspiring and relevant. This integrated approach motivates learners to appreciate the significance of trigonometry beyond the classroom environment.

João Ricardo Branco is a professor at Coimbra Polytechnic - Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC), in Portugal. PhD in Applied Mathematics, graduate in Civil Engineering Sciences, and undergraduate in Financial Analysis. He has several scientific and pedagogic publications and his research interests are finance, mathematical education for engineers, and mathematical models for glioma proliferation and diffusion. He is a member of the Mathematics Centre of the University of Coimbra (CMUC), the Research Group on the Didactics of Mathematics in Engineering (GIDiMatE) and the Center for the Support of Mathematics in Engineering (CeAMatE). Carla Fidalgo, PhD in Mathematics from the University of Coimbra, is a professor at the Coimbra Polytechnic - Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC), in Portugal. She was President of the Assembly of Representatives of ISEC for 13 years, a member of the General Council of IPC, and a member of the Advisory Board of ISEC. She has been a researcher at the Mathematics Centre of the University of Coimbra (CMUC), co-founder of the Research Group on the Didactics of Mathematics in Engineering (GIDiMatE), co-founder of the Center for the Support of Mathematics in Engineering (CeAMatE), and collaborator of the Center for Innovation and Study of Pedagogy in Higher Education (CINEP). She has been a member of scientific committees of national and international congresses and is the author of several publications both in Pure Mathematics and in Mathematics Didactics.
