Offers you an understanding of techniques for electrocardiogram (ECG) data analysis. Placing emphasis on the selection, modeling, classification, and interpretation of data based on advanced signal processing and artificial intelligence techniques, this book helps you design, implement, and evaluate software systems used for the analysis of ECG.
Here's a cutting-edge, practical book that offers you a thorough understanding of state-of-the-art techniques for electrocardiogram (ECG) data analysis. Placing emphasis on the selection, modeling, classification, and interpretation of data based on advanced signal processing and artificial intelligence techniques, the book helps you design, implement, and evaluate software systems used for the analysis of ECG and related data.

Gari D. Clifford is a research engineer at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences in Cambridge, MA, an instructor in biomedical signal processing at MIT and an editorial board member of Biomedical Engineering OnLine. He holds an M.Sc. in applied maths and theoretical physics from Southampton University and a Ph.D. in biomedical signal processing and neural networks from Oxford University. His research interests include biomedical signal processing, noise analysis, missing data, ECG and cardiovascular modeling and supervised/unsupervised learning from large temporal biomedical databases. Francisco Azuaje is a reader at the University of Ulster and was formerly a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He received his B.Sc. in electronic engineering from Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela and his Ph.D. in artificial intelligence and medical informatics from the University of Ulster, U.K. Dr. Azuaje has published extensively in the areas of bioinformatics and medical informatics. He is an editorial board member of the IEEE Transactions on Nanobioscience, BioMedical Engineering OnLine, Cancer Informatics and the Online Journal of Bioinformatics. He co-edited two books in the areas of bioinformatics and systems biology. Patrick E. McSharry is currently a Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC research fellow at the University of Oxford. His research interests include biomedical engineering, complex dynamical systems, signal processing, systems biology, risk management, operations research and forecasting. He received a B.A. in theoretical physics and an M.Sc. in electronic and electrical engineering from Trinity College Dublin. He was awarded a Marie Curie Research Fellowship in 1995 and received a Ph.D. in mathematics, on time series analysis and forecasting, from the University of Oxford.

Preface. Introduction. Mathematical Characterization of the ECG and Its Contaminants. Filtering, Compression, Decompression, and Interpolation. Feature Extraction. Supervised and Unsupervised Classification. Visualization Methods, Knowledge Management and Emerging Methods.
