A designer, photographer and obsessive collector of all manner of curios, Shahid Datawala is well known in design circles in India and Europe. Datawala is often seen trawling the street markets of Indian cities where, among other things, he has managed to accumulate thousands of matchbox lables. His collection is one of the most enviable in the country. Mariswaran is the son of a well known calendar artist and the collector of popular and graphic art. He is a life long resident of Sivakasi - the centre of both India's calendar art and match industries - and has an intimate knowledge of the economic and cultural life in and around this region.
