Let's face facts: you may never become a TV star; and even if you do, you certainly won't get the opportunity to say whatever is on your mind whenever you want. But with vlogging (video blogging) is the new medium of choice for uncensored, unmediated mass communicatio. You can post videos on the Internet and share them with the world any time, any day. When you're ready to transform yourself from media consumer to media superstar, "Vlogging Hacks" is the perfect guide.

The first and only book devoted to video blogging, "Vlogging Hacks" gives you all the skills, tools, and resources you need to set up, create, and syndicate your vlogs. The book's authors include pioneer vloggers Jay Dedman, Joshua Kinberg, Ryanne Hodson, and Michael Verdi-expert video editors who deliver the basics and the depth of knowledge that aspiring and even more seasoned vloggers won't find elsewhere.

Vlogging Hacks provides tips, tricks, and useful information to help you with:

Using your digital camera's built-in video capability to shoot video without needing expensive HD-capable digicams Getting the most from video editing tools, such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, and Adobe Premiere Pro and Express Compressing video for playback over the Web as well as for mobile devices such as Sony's PSP and 3GP-capable cellphones Tagging video blogs Uploading videos to free hosting sites Setting up RSS and Atom feeds Finding and captivating an audience for your vlogs

If you thought blogging was big, just imagine the impact that video blogging can have--as a vehicle for personal expression, entertainment, social commentary, and even politics (watch for vlogging to take off in the 2008 Presidential elections; already, former Senator John Edwards has solicited his constituents to submit video questions to which he responds on his own vlog). "Vlogging Hacks" is the groundbreaking volume that gets you in on the action so you can make your one-of-a-kind mark on the fast-growing vlogging community.

Jay Dedman has produced in a spectrum of media outlets, from CNN to Manhattan Neighborhood Network. One of the founding vloggers of our thriving community, Jay has always encouraged and taught beginners from the get go. His envisions back channel conversations that are not confined by geography or traditional media barriers. Ryanne Hodson, a graduate from the Studio for Interrelated Media at Massachusetts College of Art, started her career as a video editor at WGBH PBS Boston and in Boston public access. Another disillusioned television producer struggling to get distribution for artists and media creators, videoblogging has become her medium of choice for uncensored, unmediated communication. She envisions a huge population who have transformed themselves from media consumers to media producers. With co-creator Michael Verdi, she has produced freevlog.org to teach videoblogging over the web in 8 easy steps. Joshua Kinberg is an artist, designer, and hacker. He holds a Master's degree in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design where he studied the emerging culture of weblogs and participatory media. Joshua currently works to empower videobloggers with tools and resources to create and share personal media. He is one of the developers of FireANT, an RSS aggregator and media player that incorporates Video Search, built-in BitTorrent, and the ability to sync media onto the iPod and Sony PSP. He is also a co-founding member of Node101, a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching production skills and sharing knowledge about videoblogs. Michael Verdi has led the charge to teach videoblogging to the world. His original freevlog site was used by hundreds of people to get started. Now with the assistance of Ryanne Hodson, the new freevlog.org is THE place for new videobloggers. Previously, Michael was responsible for creating the SAY S Media Arts Studio, recognized as model program with the Presidential Committee on the Arts Coming Up Taller Award. His students have received numerous awards for their work including a trip to the Sundance Film Festival to participate in the Young Filmmakers Program. Those students are now attending college at some of the countries best art and film schools.
