Shows new iPod users how to get started with an iPod and iTunes, covering everything from downloading songs and creating playlists to burning CDs, fine-tuning sound, maintaining battery life, and synchronizing information. This book covers the new iPod Shuffle, podcasting, and cool third-party accessories.
Apple has sold more than ten million iPods since their debut in November 2001, and downloads at iTunes have now topped a quarter of a billion songs, with 1.25 million songs currently downloaded every day. This book shows new iPod users how to get started with an iPod and iTunes, covering everything from downloading songs and creating playlists to burning CDs, fine-tuning sound, maintaining battery life, and synchronizing information. Now revised and expanded to cover the new iPod Shuffle, recent updates to the iPod mini and iPod photo, podcasting, the newest version of iTunes, and cool new third-party accessories. Our book releases just in time for the 2005 holiday season, when iPod sales peak (Apple sold 4.6 million iPods during the final three months of 2004, a 525 percent increase over the previous year).

Tony Bove and Cheryl Rhodes have kicked around the computer industry for decades, editing the influential Inside Report on New Media newsletter and writing for weekly and monthly magazines, including Computer Currents, NeXTWORLD, The Chicago Tribune Sunday Technology Section, and NewMedia. They also co--founded and edited Desktop Publishing/Publish magazine. Tony and Cheryl have written over a dozen books on computing, desktop publishing, and multimedia, including iLife All--in--One Desk Reference For Dummies (Wiley), The Art of Desktop Publishing (Bantam), and a series of books about Macromedia Director, Adobe Illustrator, and PageMaker. Cheryl recently founded and served as director of a charter school and has worked as a professional courseware designer and an instructor in computer courses at elementary and high schools. Tracing the personal computer revolution back to the Sixties counterculture, Tony and Cheryl produced a CD--ROM interactive documentary in 1996, Haight--Ashbury in the Sixties (featuring music from the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and the Jefferson Airplane). They also developed the Rockument music site, www.rockument.com, with commentary and radio programs focused on rock music history. As a founding member of the Flying Other Brothers (www.flyingotherbros.com), Tony has performed with Hall--of--Fame rock musicians and uses his iPod to store extensive concert recordings.
