This statistical software package provides students in introductory statistics courses with software combining spreadsheet functionality with a statistical package. IntelliStat is a statistical engine built around a familiar spreadsheet format with graphing capabilities and a user-friendly interface. Data can be brought into the spreadsheet from many sources including direct data files, ASCII or Excel files, other Windows spreadsheet applications, or by generating data "on the fly" from a variety of specific probability distributions. The software is an easy introduction to spreadsheet and computation, yet is powerful enough to serve as a supplement to Statistics courses at any level in the curriculum. Hardware Requirements: 486 PC with Windows 3.1 (including Windows 95) or greater, 8 MB RAM, 16 colour VGA video card and about 10MB of free hard drive space. Graphing function creates scatter plots, histograms, pie charts, box plots, probability density function, cumulative density function, and regression lines.
The statistics engine provides the ability to compute: summary statistics; probability distributions; illustration of the central limit theorem; estimation of confidence intervals; hypothesis testing; regression analysis; correlations and ANOVA; Chi-square tests; and time series. Random data can be generated from a variety of probability distributions including: normal; binomial; poisson; exponential; and uniform.
